CERT Skills Day Openings

Please see the “Refresher Training” opportunity on the Activities page.  If you are able to attend this Saturday, please RSVP to Christy by Friday at 2pm.  The skills day has a limited number of spaces available allowing all in attendance to participate in a timely manner.

National Night Out

During our planning for the year 2010, we discussed our desire to participate in National Night Out.  The time is now here to gather your input and ideas.  This may be your opportunity to take the lead and get your neighbors together for a block social.

Please see the below press release for information regarding National Night Out, and the upcoming steering committee meeting.  If you are available to attend on May 21st at 9am, we would like your input to assist with the planning process.
 
All CERT’s are welcome to join in for a night of crime prevention awareness and share your knowledge of community preparedness, with friends, family and neighbors.  This is a wonderful opportunity to get your neighborhood, or your block together and continue building the relationships that maintain a great community. 
 
Our team meeting and trainings are scheduled for the first Wednesday of every month.  At our meetings, we participate in trainings, get team updates and plan our future activities… National Night Out will take the place of our August Meeting/Training… Please mark you calendar for Tuesday, August 3, 2010… more details to follow.

Police Chief invites public input on NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
 
Belmont, CA  —
 The annual “National Night Out” is a unique crime prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.  The purpose is to get neighbors together is a social setting, and to share information to improve our neighborhoods.  This year’s event has been scheduled for Tuesday August 3, 2010.
 
Belmont Police Chief Don Mattei is inviting community leaders to participate in a steering committee to enhance and expand this year’s National Night Out event for the City of Belmont.  Chief Mattei and his staff are looking for business people, community members, neighborhood groups, and young people from Belmont to meet and share ideas on Friday May 21, 2010 at 9 am in the EOC room on the second floor of City Hall inside Twin Pines Park.  Dates and times for future meetings will vary, so don’t hesitate to join the committee, even if your schedule is full this Friday.

Amateur Radio Training Class

As many of you have expressed an interest in taking the Amateur Radio training class, also known as HAM Radio.  Please see this flyer for an upcoming training opportunity.  Attending this class and getting your license as a HAM is a great asset to add to our TEAM, as in all situations, communications are key.
