Volunteer at San Carlos Home Town Days
Please see dates and times below. The Sheriff’s Office is in need of volunteers to staff the Parade Route and the 5k/10k fun run (foot race). Staffing of the route will require a short to moderate amount of walking as well as standing in place, you will need to bring your CERT vest, water and sun screen. This is also a good opportunity to test your radio skills between the group, bring your FRS radios, build your own plan and stay connected to one another. Sign up by sending your rsvp to me by May 11th at 5pm.
Meeting place for both briefings will be at 610 Elm St., San Carlos Library 2nd floor conference rooms:
Saturday May 19th 0830-1200: Parade/Traffic Control
Sunday May 20th 0730-1130: 5K/10K Run/Traffic Control (Pancake breakfast to follow)
NEEDED… Belmont – San Carlos CERT communications HAM Lead Coordinator
Upcoming meeting’s…TBA
This is a working group of CERT/HAM volunteers, one representative from each local CERT from all cities in San Mateo County. Part of our preparedness efforts include building a better communications plan, including how we will communicate as a team, in our neighborhoods, to our incident command post, to the City EOC, to the County OES. What is the best method, what radio type works best, set channel frequency, build a plan and test it. This is a new working group that is in the early stages of planning and has had two meetings as of today’s date. Currently as Belmont – San Carlos CERT Coordinator, Christy has attended the meetings to gather data until our team is able to choose a member to take the lead. This is open to all Belmont – San Carlos CERT/HAM’s; our team is in need of one volunteer for this position. Please let Christy know if you are interested and she will contact you with the most recent information and the meeting locations.
Hi. I would be interested in becoming part of CERT. I’m a retired Ph.D. chemist and have multiple years of experience as a safety officer with my previous employers. I would be happy to volunteer in any capacity with the local CERT (I live in San Carlos) and to take whatever training is available.
Thanks,
Bob DeFranco
